This class is available for registration anytime between July 1 through June 1.
Students have 20 weeks to complete the program.

 

The CNC Milling Operations Course teaches the Setup and Operation of Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Milling Machines. Skills mastered in prerequisite courses are applied to the operation of CNC milling machines. Axis Orientation and blueprint under­standing is reinforced. Students will learn machine code along with the writing of typical machine code in order to understand programs that are being setup and operated. Student are taught the typical G-code use and Conversational machine com­mands and will learn to set Work Coordinates, Tool Length Compensation, Radius Compensation, and Tool Wear Offsets, using accepted practices. The student will setup and operate multiple pro­grams to demonstrate skills and then complete the requirements of NIMS Credentialing by passing a knowledge test.


 The prerequisites for this class are: Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout and Measurement, Materials & Safety.
