The program is structured as a hybrid class, with a combination of both classroom with lecture and hands-on lab training, as well as online content. Many students successfully work full-time and part-time while attending the program.

Carpenters construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.  This class serves as the first level of training in the Carpentry craft. Students will learn the following content: Core Curriculum; Basic Safety; Intro to Construction Math; Intro to Hand Tools; Intro to Power Tools; Intro to Construction Drawings; Basic Communication Skills; Employability Skills; Introduction to the Carpentry Profession; Building Materials, Floor Systems, Wall Systems, Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing, Intro to Building Envelope Systems and Basic Stair Layout..

Textbook is provided for this course.
