This class is a G3 eligible program. Find out more about G3 at Germanna.edu/Germanna-G3.

The CNC Turning Operations Course teaches the Setup and Operation of the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Turning Centers.  Students will learn machine code along with the writing of typical machine code in order to understand programs that are being setup and operated.  Students are taught the typical G-code use and conversational machine commands and will learn to set work coordinates, tool length compensation, radius compensation, and tool wear offsets, using accepted practices.  This certification validates that an individual is able to successfully machine parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintain quality and safety standards; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies; and perform routine preventative maintenance.  The student will set up and operate multiple programs to demonstrate skills and then complete the requirements of NIMS Credentialing by passing a knowledge test.

The prerequisites for this class are:  Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout (JPBL) and Measurement, Materials & Safety (MMS), Drill Press (DP), Turning-Chucking Skills (TSC), and Turning Between Centers (TBC).
