The CNC Mill Operator Course teaches the Setup and Operation of Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Milling Machines. Skills learned about Good Machining Practices of Milling in prerequisite courses are applied to operation of CNC milling machines. Axis Orientation and blueprint understanding is reinforced. Machine code is learned, writing of typical machine code use taught in order for student to understand programs that are being setup and operated. Student learns typical G- code use and Conversational machine commands. The student learns to set Work Coordinates, Tool Length Compensation, Radius Compensation, and Tool Wear Offsets, using accepted practices.
The student will setup and operate multiple programs to demonstrate skills and then culminate the requirements of NIMS Credentialing by passing a knowledge test.
The prerequisites for this class are: Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout and Measurement, Materials & Safety.
