Skills learned about Good Machining Practices of Milling in prerequisite courses are applied to programming of CNC Turning Centers. Machine code is learned in multiple exercises preparing the student to write machine code. Student learns G- code and Conversational machine commands. The student learns to set Work Coordinates, Tool Radius Compensation, and Tool Wear Offsets, using accepted practices.
Set up and make a project part that complies with the engineering drawing without direct assistance, and then culminate the requirements of NIMS credentialing by passing a knowledge test.
The prerequisites for this class are: Measurement, Materials & Safety and Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout.
