Community doulas are nonmedical professionals who provide a wide range of non-clinical support to pregnant women. Through this program students will complete several modules focusing on each component of the Virginia Community Doula program to include childbirth education, lactation support, and how to refer mothers to necessary health and social services.

Notice

Please read:  PRIOR TO REGISTRATION - Participants must successfully complete a background check, drug screening and provide their latest immunization documentation. This will need to be completed through Viewpoint. During weeks 4 and 5 students will be placed within a Labor and Delivery Department for two 8-hour observation days. Students will need to be present for at least two live births during this experience.
