Leaders and peers find themselves in situations where coaching another individual is the key to successful performance. Often, we think we are coaching by telling the other individual what to do. Though there are times when that is necessary, it is likely the resolution is not owned by the other party. Coaching creates a dynamic relationship where problem solving is collaborative and greater performance can be realized. This workshop will explore the difference between coaching and counseling, create an awareness of when peer-to-peer coaching or leader as coach is appropriate, identify coaching strategies to enhance workplace performance, and discuss the importance of asking powerful questions to get buy-in and understanding.
