Prepare for a rewarding career as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA).  This program trains you to perform "back office" work in a medical practice, assisting physicians and health care providers. CMAs perform functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office including patient prep for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, and technical aspects of phlebotomy.  Students will also review skills in pharmacology; taking and documenting vital signs; cardiology -- including proper ECG lead placements; professional workplace behavior; ethics, and the legal aspects of health care.  This 198-hour program includes Zoom meetings with the instructor, face-to-face labs, and other work through Canvas.  Students must submit an application including a background check, drug screening results, and other admission requirements.  Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) examination.  NHA exam voucher and study guide are included with the tuition.  Exam voucher must be used within four months from last day of class.  Textbook required.  Please note:  Although an exam voucher is included with the tuition for this class, no refund or credit is issued to any student for unused or unissued vouchers, or for any out-of-pocket exam and associated expenses.  Please contact 540-891-3012 if you have any questions.

Textbooks required: Clinical Medical Assisting 5th Edition (Judy Kronenberger; ISBN-13: 978-1496302380); Clinical Medical Assisting Study Guide, 5th Edition (Judy Kronenberger; ISBN-13: 978-1496318619)

Meet all admission requirements, please contact Angel Wagoner, Health Care Coordinator, for information and details.

Attendance: all online classes may be watched through Zoom, but the instructor must be notified BEFORE a Zoom class if the student has to be absent. All face-to-face labs on Fridays -- or any that the instructor may build in the schedule -- require 100% attendance. Please make sure you are able to adhere to this schedule. Scrubs of any color (but without any designs or writing on them) are required for both Zoom and face-to-face classes.
