This class is a G3 eligible program. Find out more about G3 at Germanna.edu/Germanna-G3.
Prepare for a rewarding career as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA).  This program trains you to perform “back office” work in a medical practice, assisting physicians and health care providers. CMAs perform functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office including patient prep for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, and technical aspects of phlebotomy.  Students will also review skills in pharmacology; taking and documenting vital signs; cardiology — including proper ECG lead placements; professional workplace behavior; ethics, and the legal aspects of health care. The course will also prepare for the NHA certification for the CCMA exam.  This 198-hour program includes Zoom meetings with the instructor, face-to-face labs, and other work through Canvas.  A complete course outline and schedule will be given to students during the first week of class.

Prior to the start of class, students must complete a background check, drug screening results, and other admission requirements. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) examination. NHA exam registration and study guide are included with the tuition. Exam will be scheduled prior to the end of the course.  Textbook required.  Please note:  Although an exam is included with the tuition for this class, no refund or credit is issued to any student for any out-of-pocket exam and associated expenses.  Please contact Christine Wagoner (cwagoner@germanna.edu) with any questions.

Tuition includes: CMA course, CMA NHA textbook, CCMA NHA online exam prep, CMA online study guide, CCMA NHA registration
