This class is a G3 eligible program. Find out more about G3 by clicking here.

Students entering the Heavy Equipment operator class do not need prior industry experience. Students also do not need to be currently working in the field to start this program. The program is structured as a hybrid class, with a combination of both classroom with lecture and hands-on lab training, as well as online content. Students receive hands-on training using simulators, which replicates real-life operating scenarios through rotation-motion platforms and high-resolution 3D displays for excavator and wheel loader equipment.  Many students successfully work full-time and part-time while attending the program.

The Level 1 class introduces students to the following: Orientation to the Trade, Heavy Equipment Safety, Identification of Heavy Equipment, Basic Operational Techniques, Utility Tractors, Introduction to Earthmoving, Interpreting Civil Drawings, and Using Simulator Exercises for Equipment Basic Controls, Loading and Unloading, Excavating, and Trenching.

Textbook is included for the course.
