This eight-hour course is designed to provide an overview of the laws and regulations that govern contractor licensing and practice in Virginia. This class is required as a pre-licensing education class by the Virginia Board of Contractors. Included is a study of those laws relating to the Board of Contractors as well as a review of the State Building Code and Underground Utilities and the types of licenses and qualifications required for contractors. Other content includes: Standards of Practice, Prohibited Acts and How to Avoid Violations of the Regulations, as well as an overview of Employment Law, Workers' Compensation, Taxes, and Business Structure.
Regardless of the type of contractor you would like to become -- Building, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Landscaping, Paving, etc. -- this class provides you with the overview necessary to take that first step.
