Prepare for a rewarding career as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA). This program trains you to perform "back office" work in a medical practice, assisting physicians and healthcare providers. CMAs perform functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office including patient prep for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, and technical aspects of phlebotomy. Students will also review skills in pharmacology, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper ECG lead placements, professional workplace behavior, ethics, and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 198 hours of classroom lecture with hands on labs. Students must submit an application including a background check, drug screening results, and other admission requirements. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Health Career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) examination. Textbook required.
