ID : 7233
« back to classes page
This class is designed to give an overview of common accounting and taxation issues encountered by small businesses owners, both experienced or novice. Also, important new updates/changes to the tax code have been made that affect small businesses: From 1099 filing deadlines and new (massive!) fines for late filing, partnership and c-corp filing deadline changes and major potential shake-ups to the itemized and standardized deductions for sole proprietorships using the 1040 to report income.  Our course will include all pertinent small business changes to the tax code that will affect you and your business.  Topics include the following essentials: basic accounting principles, procuring accounting software, when to hire an accountant, analyzing financial reports to determine the financial health of the business, organizational practices that will save on the accountant’s bill, basic tax set-up and ongoing taxation issues, different business types recognized by the IRS and the benefits of each, how to avoid errors/fraud in the business, hiring the right employees, focusing on the long-term financial health of the business, managing payroll, and other relevant issues.  The course will benefit both the well-established business owner with numerous employees or the sole-proprietor of a home-sales company.  It will also help prepare future business owners or employees.  The instructor will share research and address questions students have encountered within their business environment.
