This course is for practicing dental hygienists in the Commonwealth of Virginia and covers the basic concepts of administration of local anesthesia. Completion of the course prepares the hygienist to give anesthesia and nitrous oxide to patients in Virginia, pursuant to State Code of Virginia 60-20-81. This 36-hour course provides online instruction and clinical experiences to prepare you for the safe and effective administration of local anesthesia and pain control, under the supervision of a dentist and dental hygiene faculty. Clinical is scheduled from 9am – 5pm on Friday, October 6&13, 2017 at Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg, VA.
Prerequisites: Participants must provide a copy of their current license to practice dental hygiene in Va., a current CPR certification, current evidence of negative Hepatitis B vaccination and/or titer, negative PPD, and copy of current liability insurance. NOTE: if just one student is enrolled, that student must provide an individual willing to participate in the clinical practices.

Please bring with you to clinical: Safety glasses, workbook, and come dressed in clinical attire. Workbook is required, and available in the college bookstore. Tuition is $1400.
