This is a 15-week course that covers the 5 major sections of mechanical systems in Industrial Manufacturing. The student will study Industrial Safety, Dimensional Measurement, Mechanical Drives 1, Mechanical Drives 2, and Duty Area 2 for the NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills) credential.
During the Industrial Safety module, students will learn about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), HAZCOM, working in confined spaces, electrical safety, fire safety, and accident response. This will allow the student to become a part of a culture of safety in the workplace.
The Dimensional Measurement module will cover measurement systems, calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauging.
The Mechanical Drives 1 module will help the student to understand mechanical power transmissions, machine installations, performace measurements, basic shaft alignment, and basic v-belt, chain, gear, and mutable shaft drive gear drives.
The Mechanical Drives 2 module will help students to understand havy-duty belt drives, lubrication systems, chain, v-belt, and synchronous belt drives, and troubleshooting indicator shaft alignments and couplings.
