The purpose of this class is to explore the differences between writing for person and professional use, and to improve basic writing skills. The increase in both speed and complexity in today's business environment, coupled with the increasing dependence on digital communication and social media, mean that first impressions can significantly impact the effect of your communications. Finding the right word, ensuring that you are using correct grammar, and combining those skills to effectively tell your story are critical. Starting with basic writing skills, this course will review sentence structure, word usage and selection, grammar and punctuation as the building blocks for effective communication. Participants in the class will reinforce how to write effective sentences and to make their writing vigorous, direct, and to the point. This class provides the student with resources and skills that can be immediately applied in the business or government environment.
